Envolée d’Oiseaux Origami

Seven origami birds—four blue and three white—crafted from metal, take flight atop three slender black steel stems. The birds’ colours echo the nearby Sports Experts signage, while their upward movement evokes themes of openness, aspiration, and travel.

The installation can be seen as a metaphor for Quartier DIX30 itself: a vibrant destination that continues to grow and evolve. Through this soaring composition, the artist sought to convey a sense of lightness, vitality, and serenity. The work is structured around the straight line, a fundamental principle of origami, from which the birds derive their folded-paper forms.

Drawing on this ancient art form, the sculptures introduce a playful dimension that speaks to our sense of wonder, our connection to childhood, and the activities and memories associated with it.
